Ad blocking in Firefox Klar for Android

This article is no longer maintained, so its content might be out of date.

Firefox Klar lets you control the level of blocking and protection against ads, pop-ups and online trackers so you can browse with more privacy, less distractions, and less bandwidth.

Block ads and other annoyances with Ad Blocking

Ad Blocking blocks ads, pop-ups, sign-up messages and other annoyances on the Web. Ad Blocking is off by default, but you can turn it on or off at any time.

  1. Tap the menu button next to the address bar:

    focusAddressbar
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Privacy & Security.
  4. Under Ad Blocking, tap the switch next to Ad Blocking to turn it on or off.

How does Ad Blocking determine what to block?

If turned on, Ad Blocking enable a block list that combines the following lists and only blocks advertising domains.

Easylist Filters (Created by the EasyList community at https://easylist.to/pages/about.html)

AdGuard Filter (Learn more about the AdGuard Filter project here.)

Licensing: These lists are licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

Block online trackers with Tracking Protection

Some sites have online trackers, or content, cookies or scripts that collect your browsing data across multiple sites. Firefox’s Tracking Protection blocks online trackers but it does not block all ads.

  1. Tap the menu button next to the address bar:

    focusAddressbar
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Privacy & Security.
  4. Tap the switch next to Tracking Protection to turn it on or off.
Tracking Protection lists are provided by Disconnect.
